Today I am going to share with you a new topic that is higher educations. Before going to discuss higher education we should know water is education.

Definition of educations:

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills values, beliefs, and habits.

If we provide the knowledge of anything to a person then we will say that we are educating that person.

Nowadays education has become the most important part of everyone’s life. The importance of educations has increased only providing knowledge is not an educations it can become a vital part of life.

Thoughts of educations:

Rig Veda – education is something that makes a man self-reliant and selfless.

Self-reliance means: that a person is not dependent on others. He is only dependent on his sources.

Selfless means: Ending of selfishness inside him.

Lodge – life is educations and education is life.

Guru Nanak Dev – educations is self -realization and service to the people.

The educations system in India:

That means how the education system is working in India. In our India the education system is divided into three parts that are:

1) Elementary education

2) Secondary education

3) Tertiary education

First, we will look after elementary education.

Elementary educations: 

In this elementary education, it covers the lower class education. 

This elementary educations is further divided into two parts that are:

1) Primary educations 

2) Upper primary educations

Primary educations covers: (1 to V classes).

Upper primary educations covers: (VL to Vlll).

Next comes the secondary educations is for the divided into two parts that are: up higher education

1) Secondary

2) Senior secondary

Secondary education covers: (lX to X)

Senior secondary educations covers: (Xl to Xll).

So till the school level that is up to plus 2 (Xll) educations is known as secondary education.

The third one is tertiary education:

When we go to the colleges it comes under tertiary educations. Higher  education is further divided into two parts that are:

1) Higher educations

2) Vocational educations

Higher educations are nothing but when you go to colleges for a degree.

Vocational educations are nothing but when you go to Vocational University a school to develop your skills.

Our today’s topic is the higher educations system let us briefly discuss the higher education system for further use.

Higher education:

It is often delivered at universities, colleges’ seminars, and institutes of technology and Management.

It is also known as post-secondary educations and third-level educations.

India’s higher educations system is the third-largest in the world next to the US and China.

The main governing body for higher educations in India is UGC (University Grant Commission).

The next topic comes day types of higher educations systems.

 Types of higher educations: 

1) General 

2) Professional 

3) Occasional 


General educations is that which takes place in a University, college, or institute of technology or Management.

For example:

Arts, Commerce, and science.


It is usually provided in graduate schools.

For example:

Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.


Vocational educations take place at vocational universities and schools.

For example:

Health Care, computer technology, office management, etc.

Evaluation of the higher educations system in India.

In the ancient system, there are no school university colleges but also people were studied.

The tracks are roots of our higher educations system are Vedic.

Its origin can be trace to the Vedic age.

In the Vedic system that are no books. 

The knowledge was provided through Veda, brahmana, and Upanishads provided the highest knowledge to mankind.

So I have already told that there were no schools are colleges in the Vedic system the knowledge was provided through the gurukul system.

The education system before British rule was – gurukul.

The type of educations system in ancient India with living near is with the guru in the same house.

The higher educations system is divide into two parts.

before independence 

after independence.

Higher educations system before independence:

Power systems truck its roots during the British period.

They developed the system to consolidate their rule in India.

Objectives of the British educations system:                    

To introduce English.

To expand the market for English goods.

Get manpower for their routine administrative jobs.

Steps taken by the British to introduce Western educations in India:

Step 1: 1784 – Asiatic Society of Bengal is established.

The society started several English schools and colleges:

In that, the first 3 colleges are first is Wilson College in Bombay. Second comes Madras Christian College in Madras, and third is St. John’s College in Agra. The above three colleges is establish by this society.

2nd initiative of there is in the 1813 – the charter act was introduced by them.

The main objective of this act was to promote scientific knowledge. By living those things which we read in the ancient education system.

 clause 13 – The government should provide Rs. 1 lakh for the promotion of educations per year.

In 1817, the Hindu college is establish in Calcutta.

3rd initiative of there is in 1823 – general committee of public instruction:

It is formes to look after the development of educations in India.

It created pressure on British India Company to promote western educations.

4th one is 1835 – Macaulay’s minute:

Initiatives were mainly direct at elementary and secondary educations.

Printing of English books made free and available at very low prices.
